Hi All,
I know I have e-mailed some of you the program video clip that Xiaolu (Spring 2012 Program Intern) and I made. But if you are new and are wondering about what the conversation sessions are like, please feel free to watch it and leave any comment or feedback. Thanks! I have attached the information on the program webpage for this semester in the document below. The information will be updated on our program website shortly. Meanwhile, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to browse through the program website draft for more information. More information will be added on our program website throughout the semester.
For Graduate ESOL Students:
Description: A basic model for evaluating writing will be presented, which includes the following parts: unity, support, coherence (organization/flow of thought), and sentence skills (grammar/ structure). Steps in the writing process cover pre-writing, writing a first draft, revising, and proofreading/editing; these steps will act as another framework for effective writing. With these structures in place, participants will assess their own writing needs, including grammar; will review rules; and will strengthen their own specific writing skills. The first group will start on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, and will meet every Tuesday for seven sessions, through October 23, 2012. The time is from 2:00PM to 3:30PM, in Room 0119 Francis Scott Key Building. To get the most benefit from the program, hopefully, you can attend all the sessions. Time: 2:00 – 3:30PM (1 and1/2 hours) Location: Room 0119 in Francis Scott Key Hall If you are an international graduate student interested in improving your writing skills, please register for this group program.
